Department of Clinical Affairs
The Department of Clinical Affairs as a structural unit of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University was established in 2015 by the Order of the Rector. Since establishment of Ternopil Medical Institute, the experts: Professor N.I. Tumashova, Professor B.I. Rudyk, Professor L.Ya. Kovalchuk, Professor V.V. Bihuniak, Associate Professor I.Ya. Hospodarskyi, Professor O.I. Yashan, Associate Professor A.D. Bedeniuk, Professor L.S. Babinets, Professor M.I. Shved, Professor N.I. Yarema, have contributed much to the development of the Department. Professor S.Yo. Zaporozhan have been the head of medical treatment and preventive affairs of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University since 2015. Implementation of medical treatment and preventive practice by the academic staff of clinical departments according to European and world standards as well as completion of the tasks defined in the concept of public health care development of Ukraine are the main strategies of the department.
The department carries out planning, arrangement and management of treatment and diagnosis, control over the quality and effectiveness of treatment process, as well as records and reports on clinical affairs; performs analysis of work and implementation of innovative technologies into medical treatment and diagnostic process and therapeutic practice of the faculties, research institutes and academic departments of the university; provides testing and introduction of advanced scientific technologies in clinical practice. Educational and training centres of primary health care, Ternopil University Hospital, Dental Clinic, Disease Prevention Centre, and clinical departments of the university are administered by the Department of Clinical Affairs.
The Department of Clinical Affairs co-operates with regional, city and district health care facilities, and builds relationships with educational and research institutions, organizations, enterprises, as well as foreign ones. In particular, cooperation agreements were signed with Zalishchyky Regional Municipal Hospital for Disabled War Veterans and Exonerates, Bilche-Zolote Regional Physiotherapeutic Rehabilitation Hospital. I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University is also cooperating with the Department of Health Care of Rivne Regional State Administration, Zakarpattia Regional Department of Forestry and Hunting, Department of Healthcare of Zakarpattia Regional State Administration, Khmelnytskyi Regional Department of Forestry and Hunting, Department of Healthcare of Khmelnytskyi Regional State Administration, Volyn Regional Department of Forestry and Hunting, Department of Healthcare of Volyn Regional State Administration, Chernihiv Regional Department of Forestry and Hunting, Department of Healthcare of Chernihiv Regional State Administration, Chernivtsi Regional Department of Forestry and Hunting, Department of Healthcare of Chernivtsi Regional State Administration.

The scope of the agreement is examination of adults and children of Zakarpattia, Khmelnytskyi, Volyn, Chernihiv and Chernivtsi regions at risk groups for Lyme disease. The agreements were signed between I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University and the religious organization “Female Monastery of Servants of the Lord and Virgin Mary of Matara TZA UGCC”, Zhytomyr Regional Children Clinical Hospital of Zhytomyr Regional Council, Volyn Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine Centre, Ternopil Regional Blood Service Centre, Charity Organization “Charity Foundation”, Petryky Regional Geriatric Boarding House, Novosilky Regional Special Educational Complex. The branches of the Department of Surgery and Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the Academic and Research Institute of Postgraduate Education (ARI PE) of TNMU have been established at O.F. Herbachevsky Regional Clinical Hospital of Zhytomyr Regional Council.
The branches of medical rehabilitation departments have been established at the Koziavkin International Rehabilitation Centre. Research and training conferences are frequently held at the university, master classes – at the Center for Medical Simulation, as well as round tables – in the treatment and prevention units of district hospitals of the region and Bilche-Zolote Regional Physiotherapeutic and Rehabilitation Hospital. An advisory and diagnostic team “Clinic on Wheels” has been established to provide consulting and deliver medical care to children and adults of the region.
